"I believe in unions."

That's what Barack Obama said recently in Youngstown, Ohio, pledging his full support for the Employee Free Choice Act if elected President.

I'm sharing the video of the event with you so that you can see for yourself how well Senator Obama understands the importance of unions to our country.
 

Senator Obama gets it. He understands that unions are essential for strengthening the middle class for all workers and their families. Unions, he said, are responsible for every major worker protection, from the minimum wage and overtime to health care benefits and paid leave.

Like you, Barack Obama believes in unions and believes in the Employee Free Choice Act because it will protect workers' right to organize free of employer intimidation. John McCain, on the other hand, opposes this legislation, siding with big corporations instead of American workers.

I'm in Denver this week attending the Democratic National Convention and talking with union members from around the country about how we can best use our strength to elect Barack Obama as President of the United States.  I'll check in with you after the convention to share the best ideas and let you know how you can get involved.
