Stillwater Bargaining Report #15

We have reached a tentative agreement with the City of Stillwater for our first union contract.  The Bargaining Committee recommends a "YES" vote for ratification.

 

Below are some of the highlights of the Agreement:

 

1.  "Just Cause" disciplinary standard, improving job security.

2.  Grievance Procedure with binding arbitration as the final step.

3.  Improvements in higher classification pay.

4.  Recreation Entertainment, Activities Program (REAP) benefits, including one-half the set amount for part-time employees with more than 2  years of service.

5.  Prohibition of contracting out jobs or work of current employees.

6.  Protection when promoting or transferring to a new position.

7.  Forty-Eight hour refillable leave bank for Comp Time.

8.  Posting of job vacancies and guaranteed consideration of current employees' applications first, before external applicants.

9.  Process for individuals or groups of employees to request alternate work schedules, including four 10 hour shifts.

10. Right to be represented by a trained union steward in disciplinary issues.

11. Seniority rights in the event of a layoff.

12. Continuation of holidays, vacation, sick leave, bereavement leave, tuition reimbursement and many other benefits.

13. Continued step increases after positive evaluation, until topped out.

14. On-Call Pay of $100 per 7-day shift.
